I am still nursing my 12 month old son and I plan to cnnitoue through his second year if he wants to, I personally do not feel like I will after that. I love it though and wouldn't exchange the bonding for anything in the world.Breast is best, formula is a decent substitution but it def isn't the same. I think that formula is a good outlet for mother's that are unable to provide BMilk for their babies BUT, I believe all babies deserve their Mommy to try and BF as long as their body allows them to through the 1st year. I have several friends that fail through lack of knowledge, selfishness (complaining of pain), and laziness (not willing to pump). I think that these are excuses and not reasons. A mother that is truly committed will educate herself, bear through the pain in the beginning and bust her ass to be sure the baby is getting the milk. I know I did it and it wasn't easy. My son's father never gave him a bottle, so I nursed every feeding through this year!!!
