Will Jennifer Hudson Testify in Brother-in-Law's Murder Trial?
Jury selection is underway today in the case against William Balfour, the man accused of murdering the mother, brother and nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, in 2008.
According to CNN, the 30-year-old singer-actress is on the witness list, and is expected to be a regular presence in the courtroom when the trial begins on April 23. Whether she will testify in the case, however, remains to be seen.
Balfour is the estranged husband of Jennifer's sister, Julia. According to reports, Balfour allegedly murdered Darnell Donerson, 57, Jason Hudson, 29, and 7-year-old Julian King on Oct. 24, 2008, after he discovered a birthday gift for Julia he believed was from another man. Balfour has since pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In a January 2012 interview with NBC's Dateline, Jennifer recalled the horrific tragedies, admitting she could have been killed herself.
"I remember it like yesterday," Hudson said. "I was literally picking up my bags to walk out the door to go to my mother's house. And he called me, like, 'Can you come out here instead of going, you know?' And I was like, 'Okay, sure.' And that one decision, that one thing, I wouldn't be sitting here."
Jennifer recently performed "I Will Always Love You" at the Grammys in February, in a tribute to the late Whitney Houston.
