The dress is a hit. The dress on her is not. It makes her look wider
The length is too short on the dress and because of this, with the split, on first glance it looks like a jumpsuit. It's not a total miss though. Her hair, her makeup and the bodice of the dress are all lovely. It should just have been fitted to her properly.

I don't think the plunging neckline and back are what makes this look not so good, I think it's the material of the dress. It is frumpy and too heavy for what the dress is supposed to be. The material should have been a lighter weight. Also there is a visible stitching line hat cuts right in the middle of her boobs - that is always unflattering. I agree about the makeup. I like the eyes and the cheeks aren't so bad (they're sill not good though) but what's bothering me is the lips. It needs to be a more cherry red or a more dark red, not a coral/orange red
This could have very easily been a miss but because of the way it was styled, it is definitely a hit. The 40's hair style compliments the dress and the pop of colour was a smart thing to do because without it, the look would have been a bit flat. Love this.
