Bristol Palin, the 21-year-old daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, caused a stir when she took to her Facebook page on Thursday to criticize President Obama for allowing his young daughters Sasha, 10, and Malia, 13, to influence his stance on gay marriage.

“While it’s great to listen to your kids’ ideas, there’s also a time when dads simply need to be dads,” Bristol, the eldest daughter of Palin, wrote in a blog post titled ‘Hail to the Chiefs – Malia and Sasha Obama.’

The young mother-of-one added:

“In this case, it would’ve been nice if the President would’ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee.”

But it’s not the first time Bristol has made outrageous comments. Find out what other Palin jabs have turned people’s heads:

On birth control, Bristol, who became a single mother at age 17 after splitting with boyfriend Levi Johnston, has said:

“If you’re going to have sex, I think you should have safe sex.”

After being confronted with an angry critic of her mother at a Los Angeles bar, who screamed at Bristol “Your mother’s a whore,” the teenager responded:

“Why do you hate my mom? Is it because you’re a homosexual?”

A rep for the Palin family later insisted that she was not homophobic, saying in a statement: “Accusing her of homophobia is completely unfounded and totally misstates her views.”

On Dancing with the Stars, the top-rating ABC program she once competed on, Bristol said:

“Going out there and winning this would mean a lot. It would be like a big middle finger to all the people there that hate my mom and hate me.”

Responding to another attack, this time online, in reference to her mother’s TLC reality show Sarah Palin’s Alaska, Bristol wrote to a user on a social networking site:

“You’ll be as successful as my baby daddy, And actually I do work my ass off. I’ve been a single mom for the last two years.”
