Reese Witherspoon Appears In Court Hearing Parents' Marital Dispute
Pregnant Reese Witherspoon and her husband, Jim Toth, appeared in a Davidson County, Tennessee, courtroom on Friday for an emergency hearing in the star’s parents’ bigamy case.
Reese’s mom, Betty, has filed a lawsuit against her husband of 42 years, John D. Witherspoon, alleging that he married another woman even though they are still married.
In court documents, Betty said she fears her 70-year-old husband, a physician, suffers from early onset dementia and has a drinking problem.
"No person in Tennessee can marry another while being married at the same time of the second marriage," said the petition, which includes a marriage certificate for John Witherspoon and the woman he has since marred, Tricianne Taylor.
Reese, 36, didn't make any statement at the hearing, which was also attended by her brother.
