'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood Jailed Again
Troubled Teen Mom Amber Portwood is back in the slammer.
On Thursday, Portwood was placed in jail following a violation of her court-appointed drug program terms -- the same program she had entered in February to avoid spending time behind bars.
According to Indiana newspaper The Herald Bulletin, the mom-of-one was found falling short of fulfilling her program obligations. Portwood's attorney, Evan Broderick, told the paper Portwood had fell behind while recovering from a recent laparoscopic gallbladder surgery.
"I think things came to light that she could have been doing more," he told the paper.
Portwood's attorney told the court she was ordered to remain in bed for two to three weeks after surgery but, according to TMZ, Amber's case manager spoke to the doctor directly and found out the Portwood should have been well enough to attend her latest court dates.
Amber will remain in jail until next week while the court reviews her case. For now, she has not been terminated from the program.
"It’s not uncommon to give a sanction in jail to get them back on track," Broderick said of Portwood's situation.
Portwood has had her fair share of troubles after appearing on MTV's Teen Mom. In 2010, she was charged with domestic battery for hitting her baby's daddy, Gary Shirley, before admitting into rehab in June 2011 following a suicide attempt. She was last arrested for drug possession and probation violation in December 2011.
