Even before they went public with their relationship, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West fans went crazy over the couple. Celebuzz readers were (mostly) unanimous in coming up with their couple name, “Kimye.” We love it!

Although they’ve only been together romantically for a short time, the two were friends first. Rumors about them dating go back several years, in fact. Kanye was featured in the January 2011 premiere episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York and also made an appearance in Kim’s video for “Jam (Turn It Up)” back in 2010.

Celebuzz put together a timeline of their relationship, from the moment they first held hands in public to their recent family-themed double date!

Apr 5, 2012: Kanye raps “I fell in love with Kim,” setting fans into a frenzy about the meaning of the lyrics and their current significance.

Apr 9, 2012: Sister Kourtney responds, saying they’re “definitely friends.” The two have known each other for some time, but rumors continue that they’ve become a romantic couple recently.

April 24, 2012: Kanye and Kim out on the town after attending the opening of Scott Disick’s new Meatpacking District restaurant. This is reportedly the first time the couple has held hands in public. A few days prior, Kim was also spotted wearing earrings with the letters “K” and “W” as she departed from LAX.

Apr 28, 2012: Kanye nearly loses his pants while the two are on a dinner date!

May 4, 2012: Bruce Jenner admits that he’s never met Kanye.

May 10, 2012: Kanye hints at marriage in new lyrics in “Way Too Cold.”

May 13, 2012: The two get cozy at a Laker’s game.

May 16, 2012: Kanye and Kim double date with Rob and girlfriend Rita Ora.

Celebuzz relationship expert Rachel A. Sussman, the author of The Breakup Bible, believes the pair make a perfect couple.

As for dating a famous rapper, Rachel advised: “Celebrity couples do have a few additional challenges than regular couples! The best advice I can offer is to lay down a super solid foundation. Take your time getting to know each other as a romantic couple. Enjoy the process and don’t rush it.”
