'American Idol' Winner Phillip Phillips' Postponed Kidney Surgery Won't Affect Tour
The show must go on! That's the case for American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, who had been has been forced to reschedule a kidney operation after falling ill with a high fever.
Although he will have to move back the procedure, a source tells Celebuzz that this "will not affect the tour."
According to TMZ, Phillips -- who had an astounding eight operations for chronic kidney problems during his time on Idol -- was scheduled to have a ninth procedure on May 29. The surgery has now been postponed until next week. The champ, 21, suffers from recurring kidney stones which are too large to pass through his system, so they must be removed surgically.
With the Idol tour set to begin on July 6 in Detroit, Phillips is hoping for a fast recovery.
Phillips has previously addressed his health woes, telling E! News that he almost quit Idol.
"I had some bad days and I had some pretty good days. It was rough at times, and there were a couple of times I thought about going ahead and getting out and getting the surgery done."
He added: "I came close to almost dropping out to get the surgery done, but my doctors helped me out a lot through it."
Idol judge Steven Tyler was recently interviewed about Phillips' hospitalization. See his reaction in the video below.
