Christina Applegate Returning For 'Anchorman 2', Confirms Rep
Christina Applegate will return to the big screen in the highly anticipated sequel Anchorman 2, the actress' rep confirms to Celebuzz. The Up All Night star will reprise her role as Veronica Corningstone alongside Will Ferrell's Ron Burgundy in the Channel 4 newsroom.
Until now, only the guys from the film (Ferrell, Paul Rudd and Steve Carell) were confirmed to return to the sequel, and Christina was even notably absent from the film's teaser that only featured the men of the movie.
However, her costar David Koechner , who plays Champ Kind, did let it slip to E! News that she'd be in the sequel, but it wasn't until today that she announced the casting news herself.
"It's set around the advent of the 24-hour news channel. They're writing a script right now so no specific details," Koechner spilled to E! about the comedy. "I'd like to see Ron and Champ in bed," he joked. "Did you see the first film? Champ's got a crush on Ron, clearly. So the full evolution of that would be Ron and Champ in bed."
This past March, Ferrell, excited Anchorman fans everywhere when he slipped back into his Ron Burgundy maroon suit and mustache for a special appearance on Conan, where he announced that there would be a sequel.
Though the film is not set to premiere until 2013, what are you thoughts on the sequel? Can they top the original?
