Kate Middleton vs. Princess Diana: Royal Style Showdown (PHOTOS)
From lacy LBDs to velvet getups to renowned wedding gowns, the similarities between Prince William's leading ladies are staggering.
"I’m just sad she’s never going to get a chance to meet Kate," William told ABC's Katie Couric of his late mother, in lead-up to this weekend's highly anticipated Queen Diamond Jubilee.
Reminiscent of Diana, Kate's vibrance and kindness has garnered her the same reputation as her predecessor, both women being hailed as the People's Princess.
Princess Di would be 51 this year and had she lived, one can't help but wonder what she might have worn to this weekend's festivities. As William put it, it would be "fantastic" if she were here today. Click the pics to view Kate and Diana's similar styles, and leave a few reviews in the comments.
Throughout the past year, Kate has donned a slew of designers, but does seem to have her favorites. Alice by Temperley and Temperley London, LK Bennett and Katherine Hooker are brands the royal dons often. She's also been praised for wearing affordable clothing, as her wardrobe includes quite a few styles from Zara. But it's the high-fashion designs of Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton that got people talking. Burton designed her wedding dress and gushed over Kate's keen fashion sense after the Royal Wedding, saying,
"It has been the experience of a lifetime to work with Catherine Middleton to create her wedding dress, and I have enjoyed every moment of it."
While Kate went with McQueen for her wedding gown, when Lady Di was married to William, 29, and Prince Harry's father, Prince Charles, in 1986, she chose a memorable design by Elizabeth Emanuel. In lead up to Kate's wedding, Emanuel offered up fashion advice to bride, telling TooFab,
“I think she’s got a very good figure, so she should probably wear something quite simple, but with a really nice, strong silhouette."
