It’s been 50 years since Marilyn Monroe passed away in 1962, and yet women are still trying to emulate the icon’s style and sex appeal. The Some Like It Hot actress would turn 86 today, June 1, had she not died of a drug overdose at 36, and just within the past two years, we’ve seen several stars take on the role of the blonde beauty.

Michelle Williams was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of the actress in My Week With Marilyn, while Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty vie for the role of Marilyn in the hit NBC show Smash. Lindsay Lohan also channeled the sex symbol on her Playboy cover this past year. At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Marilyn was honored as well.

From her many male suitors (most notably her marriages to baseball player Joe DiMaggio and, later, writer Arthur Miller) to her classic roles in All About Eve, Some Like It Hot and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, it’s no wonder why her legacy lives on.

Michelle, Lindsay and the girls of Smash aren’t the only women to channel Marilyn. From Lady Gaga to Taylor Swift to Rachel McAdams, check out other celebs to emulate Marilyn’s persona and fashion sense.

One of Marilyn’s more famous moments was when she sang “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962. Check it out below:
