Miley Cyrus' Engagement Ring -- Get All the Details on Her 3.5 Carat Stunner (PHOTOS)
News broke on Wednesday, June 6, that the "Party in the USA" singer, 19, and Liam Hemsworth, her on-again, off-again beau of three years, were engaged, thus leading fans to ask questions about Miley's ring bling. Jeweler Neil Lane told PEOPLE that the 22-year-old Hunger Games star wanted something "really beautiful and romantic” when it came to picking out an engagement ring for his bride-to-be.
While the recent trend for engagement rings has been white gold or platinum, Hemsworth went with something a little different.
The 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring was handcrafted in 18-karat gold, with the main diamond dating back to the late 1800s. Lane added to PEOPLE:
"It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form. At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.”

Hemsworth popped the question to Miley on May 31, and the former Hannah Montana star has since tweeted, writing:
