Bret Michaels Calls Tom Cruise's 'Rock of Ages' Impersonation 'Over The Top' (EXCLUSIVE)
Tom Cruise channeled his inner Bret Michaels in Rock of Ages — but according to the rock god himself — the Hollywood megastar’s portrayal is “over the top.”
Speaking to Celebuzz, the Poison front man revealed Cruise, 49, sought his advice about how to create the fictitious character "Stacce Jaxx," an aging rocker who is tasked with saving Hollywood nightspot Bourbon Room from closing down.
"We spent some time looking at footage of my stage show from the Tampa arena and even though the part is over the top, he took getting it right seriously,” Michaels, 49, said.
“He (Tom) also complemented the longevity of my music and career.”
In the film, Cruise belts out a rendition of the 1988 ballad "Every Rose Has It's Thorns."
So does it have Michaels' approval?
He added, "'Every Rose Has it's Thorns' is the emotional turning point and Tom kept his rock star intensity and relevance. He was cool and fun with a rock of love twist.
"Without a doubt, Tom and the entire cast come up roses by making the movie a fun energetic party -- along with a great story line that makes no apologies.”
