David Arquette Files For Divorce From Courteney Cox
In the official court papers filed Tuesday, exactly 13 years after the couple first said “I do,” Arquette is citing “irreconcilable differences,” and is asking for joint custody of their daughter, Coco, whose 8th birthday is tomorrow.
Arquette, 40 — who signed the papers on March 23 — will reportedly be representing himself in the divorce.
The couple, who were wed on June 12, 1999, agreed to a “trial separation” on Oct. 11, 2010. At the time of the announcement, the couple released a statement, saying:
The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage. e remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply. As we go though this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together
One day later, Arquette gave a candid interview to Howard Stern, during which he admitted that Cox had initiated the divorce, saying, “I don’t want to be your mother anymore.”
Following the trial separation, Cox, 47, and Arquette remained on good terms, and were spotted out and about together on a few occasions. Arquette also guest starred on the season finale of Cougar Town, which was just picked up by TBS for a fourth season.
Arquette, who on Monday celebrated his Bar Mitzvah in Jerusalem, has been dating entertainment reporter Christina McLarty on and off for nearly a year.
