Tom Cruise Honored With Friars Club Entertainment Icon Award in New York (PHOTOS)
The Mission Impossible actor, 49 -- who is only the fourth person to receive the award -- brought along his six-year-old daughter, Suri Cruise, to the event, as his wife, Katie Holmes, was out of the country filming a new movie.
The event, held at the Waldorf-Astoria, was hosted by Cruise's Rock of Ages co-star, Alec Baldwin.
Besides picking up his award, what else has Tom been up to in NYC?
Earlier Tuesday, Cruise was spotted filming scenes near the Empire State Building for the new Sci-Fi action movie Oblivion. Even though it was raining outside, Cruise donned a pretty cool pair of sunglasses as filming got underway.
In addition to Oblivion, Cruise has One Shot in the pipeline, which he filmed last September, in Pittsburgh.
Based on Lee Child‘s crime novel of the same name, the film is about “a homicide investigator digs deeper into a case involving a trained military sniper who shot five random victims.” The casting of Tom was a bit controversial, because the character he is playing was depicted in the books as a 6 ft. 5 in. 250-pound man.
One Shot is expected to hit theaters in 2013.
