New Details Emerge on Chris Brown and Drake Club Scuffle
"It was tough to see in the commotion, but it looked like Meek Mill is the one that threw the bottle at Chris' face," the onlooker told Celebuzz of the incident that left five people injured at the club W.i.P. (Work in Progress) in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood early Thursday morning.
Brown tweeted a photo of himself with a visible injury, above, but later removed it, as well as other messages about the fight, including epithets and taunts.
"Words were exchanged between Chris and Drake's entourage and then all hell broke loose," the eyewitness said of the incident, which occurred between 4 a.m and 5 a.m.
The clubgoer couldn't confirm speculation that the two were fighting over "We Found Love" singer Rihanna, who both at one time dated: "It couldn't be heard what it was about. It could have been Rihanna, but who knows?"
Neither Drake, 25, or Brown, 23, were on scene when police arrived around 4 a.m. It's not clear what prompted the fight, though a spokesperson for Drake denied any involvement.
“Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P.," the rep said in a statement.
"He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. He did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property."
An unknown 25-year-old man suffered a serious cut to the head, two other men and two women suffered minor cuts; at least three were hospitalized.
Police are said to be looking at surveillance footage and talking to patrons who witnessed the melee. No arrests have been made and no complaints filed.
Drake wasn't the only one who headed for the door when the brawl began, however:
"Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo and Fabolous were also at the club but left immediately," the eyewitness added.
After the W.i.P altercation, the singer tweeted, "“How u party wit rich n**** that hate? Lol… Throwing bottles like girls? #shameonya!," along with the above photo, but he later deleted it.
