Justin Bieber On Potential One Direction Collaboration: 'All They Have to Do Is Ask'
Despite media reports speculating over a possible rivalry between the two pop phenoms, the 18-year-old "Boyfriend" singer hinted that he could be hitting the studio with the British boy band sooner rather than later.
According to UK publication The Mirror, Bieber was asked about recording music with 1D -- a.k.a. Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson -- at the Much Music Awards in Canada on Sunday and said, "If they want me on their album, they just have to ask. They’re talented."
The real question: How soon would we get to hear new tunes from the boy band?
Probably sooner than later since Bieber is about to embark on his Believe tour starting on September 29, with a show in Glendale, Arizona.
Bieber's album of the same name drops on Tuesday, June 18, so he'll be busy promoting the new music around the world this summer. Bieber has already been performing free concerts for his fans overseas, such as Norway in which fan hysteria reached such intense heights that nearly 50 girls had to be hospitalized.
Like Bieber who will sets off on his world tour, One Direction began their North America tour in May. The pop group performed two shows in southern California this past weekend. They performed at LA's Gibson Amphitheater on Saturday and rocked the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif on Sunday.
Next up, the "What Makes You Beautiful" singers will be performing at the Smirnoff Music Centre in Dallas, Texas Saturday June 23.
Bieber also talked about the biggest contrasts between his British fans and his American fans:
"The girls definitely have dirtier mouths over here. In the UK, things are less… what’s the word? You don’t take things as seriously. Things are accepted in the UK that wouldn’t be accepted in the US. Like the commercials are sexier and wouldn’t be allowed in the States. It’s more free in the UK. You guys are more open-minded so the way you approach me is different.”Would you want Bieber and 1D to record music together? Sound off in the comments.
