Anne Hathaway's Ex Raffaello Follieri: 'We Were Talking About Marriage'
"We were talking about marriage," he said.
Follieri's four-year relationship ended abruptly in 2008, when he was accused of cheating investors by falsely claiming he had Vatican connections in order to buy a church at a discounted rate.
He later plead guilty to 14 counts of wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy, for which he was sentenced to four and a half years in a Pennsylvania prison.
Follieri was released from prison in April.
Following the completing of his prison sentence, Follieri says that he has learned from his mistakes, admitting, "I'm not a saint. But I'm not the devil."
Hathaway, who this year will star in the Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises and the movie-musical adaptation of Les Miserables, is now engaged to her long-time boyfriend Adam Shulman, whom she began dating shortly after her split from Follieri.
