‘Glee Project’ Snags Kevin McHale Return; ‘Smash’ Brings on ‘Spring Awakening’ Star

Oxygen’s The Glee Project continues to bring on more Glee stars as mentors. The competition series adds Kevin McHale, who plays Artie on the Fox hit, for the July 3 episode. McHale focuses on the new theme of “adaptability.” McHale’s costars Lea Michele, Samuel Larsen, Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera appear on Tuesday’s episode. [THR]

NBC’s Smash continues to staff up. The series just added Off-Broadway actor and TV newbie, Andy Mientus, for Season 2. He plays a poor kid from Brooklyn with dreams of writing for Broadway. Oy, let’s hope we don’t have another poorly done Ellis (Jaime Cepero) on our hands -- just when we thought that was done with. This casting follows that of singer-actress Jennifer Hudson in a major recurring role and Newsies (and former pop singer) Jeremy Jordan as a new series regular. [TVLine]

ABC has given its summer cop series, Rookie Blue, an early fourth season renewal. Apparently, the show has been winning its Thursday at 10 p.m. time slot among the ad-coveted 18-49 audience. [THR]

Ready for Love, Eva Longoria's dating show for NBC, has apparently landed on its matchmakers. They are Amber Kelleher-Andrews, Tracy McMillan and Matthew Hussey. [THR]
