Spice Girls Reunite to Announce New Musical ‘Viva Forever’
For the first time since 2008, all five members of the Spice Girls stepped out together in London to launch their much-anticipated musical based on their songs, “Viva Forever.”
Sans platform shoes or pigtails, Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwel, Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton, Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm, Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown and Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham officially unveiled the new stage inspired by their music at St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel on June 26, 2012.
The location holds a special meaning for the “girl power” group — it set the scene for their iconic music video, “Wannabe,” their 1996 No. 1 smash hit that debuted exactly 16 years ago today.
The musical — the tale of four friends whose bond is tested when their band gets a taste of fame on a TV talent show — will open at the Piccadilly Theatre in London this fall.
“It’s better than we could ever have imagined,” Chisholm boasted of the show. “They sing it better than us,” added Brown.
