Katy Perry premiered her new film Katy Perry: Part of Me in Hollywood last night, and told Celebuzz that the film is making her closer than ever to her fans.

“The most rewarding experience was, and is, this — right now,” Perry, 27, told us. “To be able to have a better and more real connection with my audience.”

What was the most difficult part of the documentary? Russell Brand? Talking about her divorce?

“The most challenging part is deciding to leave in all those shots where I look awful,” laughed Perry. “You know, no makeup.”

She certainly didn’t look awful last night, donning a red-hot Dolce & Gabbana number.

“I wanted to emulate old Hollywood because I don’t know if I’ll do something this big again,” she said of her wardrobe choice.

Perry also told reporters that her new flick has a very special message for her female fans. Said the superstar:

Just because you have boobs doesn’t mean you can’t rule the world. You can actually really rule the world. Look at Cleopatra. Rule the men, who rule the world.

Perry also gave fans a musical treat last night, performing such songs as “Teenage Dream,” “California Gurls,” “Part of Me,” and “Wide Awake” during her concert at Hollywood and Highland.

Katy Perry: Part of Me hits theaters July 5.
