Olympic Swimmer Ryan Lochte: 7 Things To Know About the Athlete (PHOTOS)

Gold Medal in Good Looks
Ryan-Lochte

Watch out Michael Phelps -- Ryan Lochte is poised to be Olympic's golden boy this year.

The 27-year-old athlete officially secured his place on the Olympic swimming team for the London games this summer after beating Phelps, 26, by two-one hundredths of a second, in the swimming trials held in Omaha, Nebraska on Tuesday evening. But don't worry, Phelps will be joining in as well. In fact, if Phelps wins just three medals during the London games, he'll be the most decorated Olympian of all time.

However, that doesn't mean Lochte won't get his moment to shine.

In addition to his dashing good looks, Lochte seems to be fiercely dedicated to his work, as any Olympian would be. In fact, he told Men's Health for their July/August issue:

"Pain, tolerance, endurance—when it comes down to that point, there’s always something left. You just have to find it.”
And though there is a friendly rivalry between him and Phelps, he remains confident, telling the magazine, "I know I haven’t had those perfect swims yet.”

Lochte also dished on how he recovers after intense training, saying he likes to eat, "two grilled chicken breasts with Alfredo sauce, whole grain spaghetti, and a salad with lemon juice and olive oil.”

In addition to those fun tidbits, Celebuzz put together some facts you might not know about him, so get a leg up on the competition, and click through the gallery to learn more.
