'Hunger Games' Actress Jennifer Lawrence Spills 'Catching Fire' Sequel Details
Hunger Games fans are in for a treat with the second film Catching Fire, says star Jennifer Lawrence. The actress, 21, spilled plenty of details about the sequel, which hits theaters November 2013.
“The new movie will be very real, which is what I’m excited about,” she told the LA Times.
“I really like [director Francis Lawrence's] take, which is a lot of what I liked in Gary Ross,” she added. “It’s the realistic grasp of the story instead of all the details of the imaginary things.”
Will the movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ series stray from the book?
The actress, who begins shooting “Catching Fire” in the fall, has met with the director and believes the movie is true to the book.
“He’s not trying to reinvent anything,” she said.
On the heels of speculative casting reports for male character Finnick Odair, now comes word Sucker Punch actress Jena Malone is under consideration for the role of Johanna Mason in the highly anticipated film, according to Entertainment Weekly. Malone, currently starring in the History Channel’s Hatfields & McCoys, is best known for her role in the 2001 movie Donnie Darko, starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
The character Johanna is described in the book as a bad girl, with Katniss referring to her as having “a wicked ability to murder.”
Johanna hails from District 7 and is the last living female in her tribe. According to Suzanne Collins‘ bestselling book, the character is not what she seems — acting like a weakling when in reality she is quite sly.
