HBO Renews ‘True Blood’ and ‘The Newsroom’
HBO has given its vampire hit, True Blood, and its freshman drama series, The Newsroom, another year.
True Blood has always held its own among the network’s subscribers for ratings, though the Season 5 premiere drew 5.2 million viewers – a drop of about one million viewers over last season’s debut. Otherwise, its latest episode held on to 4.66 million viewers.
Changes for True Blood in Season 6?
The series' sixth season renewal means that fans will get to see what happens after creator Alan Ball passes the day-to-day showrunning to one of the show’s co-executive producers, Mark Hudis. Ball will be working on developing other projects.
True Blood airs Sundays at 9 PM on HBO followed by The Newsroom at 10 PM.
