Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Divorce: Actress' Father Helped Her Flee Marriage
According to the publication -- which features the estranged couple on its cover -- Holmes' parents "wanted [the] old Katie back," nudging Toledo, Ohio-based lawyer Martin Holmes to travel to NYC and help his 33-year-old daughter leave Cruise.
But insiders say Katie ultimately made the decision herself.
"She's a strong person and makes up her own mind," a source tells PEOPLE. "She's unwavering."

"He had no idea this was coming. He's totally devastated and heartbroken," according to PEOPLE's report.
Holmes announced her decision to divorce the actor, 49, on Friday. A rep for Cruise said he was "deeply saddened" by the announcement.
Yesterday, Cruise's attorney Bert Fields said of the divorce: “I would hope that it’s not a contentious matter. I know Tom is not a particularly contentious person.”
