Alec Baldwin Quits Twitter ... Again
Alec Baldwin has said farewell to Twitter.
The hotheaded 30 Rock actor (and recent groom) tweeted "It's been fun" just before disabling his Twitter page yesterday.
But it's not the first time he’s quit the social networking service.
He shut down his account in December after a messy American Airlines incident. The 30 Rock star was kicked off a flight when he reportedly refused to turn off his phone, but he later insisted he was merely playing “Words with Friends” while still sitting at the gate.
At the very least, Baldwin left Twitter on a high note: he tweeted a photo of his and wife Hilaria Thomas’ wedding rings on Sunday. The two married at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in NYC’s Little Italy the day before.
The ring baring was one of Baldwin's more tame tweets. After the American Airlines incident, the star posted: "Last flight w American. Where retired Catholic school gym teachers from the 1950's find jobs as flight attendants." He added the hashtag #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt.”
He even used Twitter to target a Starbucks employee who apparently gave him less-than-perfect service late last year. “Starbucks on 93 and B’way. Uptight Queen barrista [sic] named JAY has an attitude problem,” he posted.
The comment ruffled the feathers of several gay activist groups, although some did note that Baldwin has frequently supported gay rights.
He also landed in hot water after his June 19 scuffle with a New York Daily News reporter. After allegedly punching the pap in a fury, Baldwin took to Twitter to defend himself – and referenced Florida’s Trayvon Martin case in the process.
He tweeted: “I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over…”
