Christina Aguilera Teaming with Britney Spears' Hit-Making Producer for New Single
Christina Aguilera is bringing out the big guns to revive her recording career -- namely, Britney Spears' longtime producer.
The Voice mentor -- whose 2010 Bionic album was a commercial and critical disappointment -- has enlisted the help of Swedish hit-maker Max Martin to helm the first single from her upcoming album, according to Billboard magazine. The song, due in early August, is reportedly a fist-pumping club banger with a chorus that includes the line, "All I want to do is what you wanted."
Martin may be exactly what Xtina needs after Bionic sold just 308,000 copies and failed to produce a Top Ten single. In addition to producing countless Spears' tunes -- including "Baby One More Time," "Till the World Ends" and "3," he also helmed all the hits from Katy Perry's Teenage Dream album, plus Pink's "Raise Your Glass," Usher's "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" and Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You."
Aguilera isn't placing all her bets on Martin. The singer is also reportedly working with British production team Xenomania, who have worked with The Wanted, Kylie Minogue and Cher.
Another expected collaborator: her Voice co-host Cee-Lo Green.
"[We made] a song for her album," Green told MTV News in April. "I won't disclose the title, because it could possibly be a working title. We've talked about it amongst ourselves, and I'm gonna go in on it and work it out."
Aguilera herself is pumped for the new project. In April, she told Voice correspondent Christina Milian, "Different producers I'm working with have just excited me so much and have given me amazing tracks and beats and material. It's just filled with fun and excitement. It's gonna come out later this year, and I'm very, very excited to share it with my fans, finally."
