Box Office Battle: ‘Savages’ Vs. ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Vs. ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’ (POLL)

Two action-packed movies hit the theaters this week, and the battle for the box office has officially begun.

This week, it’s a showdown between comic book favorite, The Amazing Spider-Man and fast-paced thriller, Savages.

Let’s take a look at these two highly anticipated movies.

First up we have The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield alongside his on and off-screen sweetheart, Emma Stone. The movie is a reboot of the 2002 version starring Tobey Maguire.

The movie starts with the story of Peter Parker (Garfield) who is abandoned by his parents at a young age and eventually uncovers his father’s old briefcase that reveals the reason behind his parents’ disappearance and leads him to Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner. Parker gets involved in a collision course with Connors’ alter ego and must make life-altering decisions to shape his fate as a hero.

Even though the movie was given a 72% rating from Rotten Tomatoes, it still made $35 million when it opened on Tuesday.

Next up is Savages, the thriller with a star-studded cast of John Travolta, Salma Hayek, Blake Lively and Friday Night Lights’ Taylor Kitsch. It tells the story of two entrepreneurs who run a homegrown marijuana business together and fall in love with the same girl (Lively). Things are going smoothly until the head of the Mexican Baja Cartel (Hayek) demand they combine and split profits. The three friends, with the help of a sneaky agent (Travolta), end up in a dangerous war against the cartel.

This action-packed thriller was given a 63% on Rotten Tomatoes and opens on Friday.

Also in theaters this week is the highly anticipated concert movie, Katy Perry: Part of Me that gives the audience a behind-the-scenes look at the pop star’s life and musical journey.
