Oscar Winner Ernest Borgnine Passes Away at 95

Silver screen veteran Ernest Borgnine passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles this Sunday.

The actor, who won an Academy Award as a lovesick butcher in 1955’s Marty, was surrounded by family at the time of his passing, a rep for Borgnine told the Associated Press.

Television fans will remember Borgnine as the scheming Navy officer in the sitcom McHale’s Navy, and the voice of Mermaid Man in animated series Spongebob Squarepants.

In his lifetime, the actor had also star in films such as From Here to Eternity with Frank Sinatra and Bad Day at Block Rock with Spencer Tracy.

The actor is survived by his wife, Tova Traesnaes, and his four children.
