Beyonce Praises 'Fearless' Frank Ocean For Coming Out
Beyoncé’s got your back, Frank Ocean.
After Ocean publicly announced his bisexuality last week, the Grammy-winning singer took to her website to applaud the rising R&B star.
Beyoncé posted a black-and-white photo of the Odd Future artist — who earned his stripes collaborating with Jay-Z and Kanye West on their Watch The Throne album — superimposed with a handwritten poem on her official website.
What did Queen B have to say about Ocean’s openness?
Beyoncé wrote, “Be Fearless/Be Honest/Be Generous/Be Brave/Be Poetic/Be Open/Be Free/Be Yourself/Be In Love/Be Happy/Be Inspiration.”
And she's not the first artist to speak out in support of Ocean. Since revealing his first love was a man in the liner notes for his forthcoming LP Channel Orange, the singer-songwriter — who has penned songs for Justin Bieber, Brandy and John Legend — has been swarmed with a steady steam of praise from the urban music community.
Beyoncé's husband, hip-hop king Jay-Z, wrote on his website: "We admire the great courage and beauty and fearlessness in your coming out. The tender irony that your letter is to a boy who was unable to return your love until years later because he was living a lie is the only truly tragic detail about your letter."
Many musicians also took to twitter to share their admiration for Ocean. "I salute you, brave soul. Independence Day. @frank_ocean," Solange Knowles wrote. British singer Rita Ora called him “inspirational.”
