Katie Holmes' Life After Tom Cruise Divorce: She Needs to Stick To Her Brand, Says Image Expert
Though Holmes, 33, has a few hit movies under her belt, her estranged husband's film career is inarguably much bigger -- spanning over two decades and counting.
With reports claiming that many of Holmes' recent jobs were hand-selected and approved by Cruise, 50, many wonder if her film career will survive once her divorce from the highly-acclaimed actor is finalized.
Brand Strategist Monica Cost from EvidentlyAssured.com tells Celebuzz Holmes has nothing to worry about as the split will open new doors for her -- both personally and in her work.
"I think it’s okay for her to be out and about and to be talking," she told us of the actress' most recent actions. "I do think she should step into the spotlight. I think it’s time and there is room for her."
Not even a week after her divorce announcement, Holmes returned to work at New York City's Parsons The New School for Design to tape a guest segment for Project Runway: All Stars, a gig she had booked before the news of the divorce broke.
Though many fans questioned if the actress was ready to work so soon after the split, Cost tells us that both Holmes and Cruise probably had everything under control.
"We have to remember we get the news of what’s going to happen later than what they have known what’s going to happen," she said. "Her and Tom may have already agreed to this process and are just now public about it."
"She has probably put her life on hold longer than she actually would have wanted to," Cost added.
As for Holmes' film career, Cost tells us that it's best she stick within the "brand that she has sold us" -- Holmes' sweet and old fashioned persona.
"My hope though is that she doesn’t do anything that is too risqué. Sometimes people rebel against the system and being the good girl, but I think that will probably set her back a bit," said Cost. "The public won’t buy it and that'll be another whole media frenzy."
"She should get bigger roles within the realm of which she is comfortable," Cost continued.
Bottom line -- Holmes' next move will allow people to see her in a new light regardless of the role.
"It’s fine for her to go back out there and work," Cost told us. "She deserves to be her own person in that right, and for us to know who she is outside of Tom Cruise." Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Divorce: Celebuzz’s Complete Coverage:
