Rihanna Returns Home for Grandmother's Wake, Tweets Apology for Drinking
Rihanna has returned home for the wake of her beloved grandmother.
Just hours after performing at the Wireless Festival in London on Sunday -- and partying at at a local hotspot -- the Where Have You Been singer was back on a plane to her native Barbados.
Wild-child Rihanna then took to Twitter to express her struggle to deal with her grandmother’s death.
"I had to!!! Sorry granny," RiRi tweeted this morning, along with a picture of her wearing no make up and drinking a beer.
In the last few days, the star has said she was having problems sleeping and made numerous references to needing a drink.
Following her festival performance, Chris Brown’s ex partied into the wee hours at Jalouse nightclub with crooner Ne-Yo and her best friend Melissa Forde.
“Still drunk... Whatever!” the singer tweeted the next day.
"Sometimes, ya just need a stiff cocktail!!! Or 10"
The 24-year-old's grandmother, Clara 'Dolly' Braithwait -- who Rihanna called "Grangran" -- lost her battle with cancer on June 30. Despite her grief, Rihanna has vowed to celebrate Braithwaite’s life at today's service.
“Grangran Dolly you are going to have the best party today,” the We Found Love performer posted on her Instagram. “I’m gon’ try to hold it all in, try to hold back my tears.”
Today's service is being held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in St. Michael; Braithwaite's funeral was already held in Brooklyn, NY -- where she lived -- on July 6.
