Just like his marriage, Tom Cruise is sinking into Oblivion.

In the wake of his divorce settlement with soon-to-be ex-wife Katie Holmes, the actor landed in Mammoth, California, to continue shooting the upcoming sci-fi thriller.

Cruise, 50, returned on Monday to the set, where he will team up with the cast and crew of Oblivion for a few days of filming in the High Sierras town this week, a production rep confirmed to E! Online.

Amid the prospect of a press-filled public battle, he and Holmes swiftly settled their split on July 9.

“Tom is really pleased we got there, and so am I,” said the actor’s attorney, Bert Fields. Just before the announcement, the estranged couple released a joint statement, saying: “We are committed to working together as parents to  accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests.”

As Cruise got back to work in Cali, Holmes moved on from the media-frenzied split on the East Coast.

The actress popped into Pottery Barn with 6-year-old Suri in New York City.

And apart from her mommy duties, the 33-year-old is busy reviving her career. Next week, she is scheduled to begin shooting Molly, a film she co-wrote, co-produced, and will star in as — ironically — a single mom. Come the fall, Holmes is slated for a rom-com opposite Chace Crawford and will always debut her Holmes & Yang line at New York Fashion Week in September.
