Usher Family Friend Being Investigated After Jet Ski Accident Leaves Singer's Stepson Brain-Dead
Usher’s family friend is under investigation for the catastrophic collision that left Usher’s stepson, 11-year-old Kile Glover, brain-dead.
The boy was struck by a Jet Ski Friday while aboard an inner tube; it was being pulled by a pontoon boat on Georgia's Lake Lanier.
According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Jeffrey S. Hubbard, 38-year-old friend of the R&B superstar, was at the wheel of the watercraft when he ran over Glover and unidentified 15-year-old girl, both of whom were wearing life vests at the time.
Will the man be blamed for the accident?
Officials say charges are pending for Hubbard but confirm that alcohol was not involved in the incident, nor was it a result of a mechanical malfunction.
Glover — the son Usher's ex-wife, Tameka Foster, from her previous marriage to Atlanta TV executive Ryan Glover — remains in critical condition at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. No brain activity has been detected since his admittance; doctors declared him brain-dead on Monday afternoon.
The second victim of the accident suffered a cut on the head and a broken arm.
Usher and Foster divorced after two years of marriage in 2009. The exes — who are both reportedly holding vigil at the hospital — are currently going through a custody battle over their two sons, Usher V, 4, and Naviyd, 3.
