'50 Shades of Grey' Screenplay: 'Tooth Fairy' Scribe Jim Piddock Not Penning Script, Confirms Rep
A 50 Shades of Grey fan frenzy was sparked on Wednesday when it was reported that British screenwriter Jim Piddock would be penning the screenplay for the big-screen adaption of E L James' erotic novel, but Celebuzz can confirm the reports are false.
A rep for Piddock -- who wrote films such as 2010's Tooth Fairy starring Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson -- informed us, "He is not writing 50 Shades Of Grey. We wish he were the writer adapting it."
Meanwhile, fans are also fervently speculating about the film's casting.
After an actor named Oliver Jackson Cohen joined Twitter on Wednesday and immediately began following the novel's author and a number of 50 Shades of Grey fansites, many were led to believe that he's a contender to play the titular character, Christian Grey.
The handsome 26-year-old starred in 2010's romantic comedy Going the Distance with Drew Barrymore and Justin Long, playing Barrymore's co-worker who has an ongoing flirtation with her. He was also featured in 2012's The Raven, as well as last year's What's Your Number? with Anna Faris and Chris Evans.
