'Cosmopolis' Trailer: Robert Pattinson Loses His Fortune in New Preview (VIDEO)
Robert Pattinson suits up in the official trailer for Cosmopolis, David Cronenberg's dark adaptation of the famous Don DeLillo novel from 2004.
In the film, Pattinson plays 28-year-old billionaire Eric Packer, who risks losing his entire fortune over the span of 24 hours, all in attempt to get a haircut. Samantha Morton and Jay Baruchel co-star.
From the looks of the trailer, Cosmopolis, which opens in limited release on Aug. 17, could go down as one of the more mature roles in Pattinson's already-successful film career -- or, at the very least, as another attempt to convince movie audiences that he can play more than just a vampire with sparkling skin.
In May, Pattinson, 26, attended the Cannes Film Festival to promote Cosmopolis, where it was met by mixed-to-positive reviews from film critics.
TIME magazine called the film a "vapid, claustrophobic drama," while Variety was more kind, calling it "eerily precise."
Later this year, Pattinson -- who is dating his Twilight co-star, Kristen Stewart -- will close the book once and for all on 'The Twilight Saga' when Breaking Dawn - Part II hits theaters, on Nov. 16.
What do you think of the Cosmopolis trailer? Will it hit with American audiences? Or will it totally miss?
