Beyonce Reads to Michelle Obama Letter in New Presidential Campaign Video (VIDEO)
A few months ago, Beyonce Knowles thanked First Lady Michelle Obama for all that she's done for our country, in a letter the singer posted on her personal blog.
Now, in an official video for President Barack Obama, the Grammy-winning superstar explains the inspiration behind the letter, and why she ultimately decided to publish it online.
What did she have to say?
"I wrote a letter to the First Lady because I wanted her to know that I am very grateful for everything she's doing for our country, and also for women around the world," she said in the video, published Sunday.
Knowles goes on to read the letter in its entirety, which begins as follows:
"Michelle is the ULTIMATE example of a truly strong African-American woman. She is a caring mother, she's a loving wife, while at the same time, she is the FIRST LADY!!!!"
"I'm proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to," Knowles continues later in the letter, referring to her daughter, Blue Ivy, whom she welcomed in January.
Toward the end of the video, Knowles -- who last year worked on Obama's Let's Move campaign, designed to help America's youth live a healthier lifestyle -- further praises the First Lady, explaining:
"I'm so in awe of Michelle Obama. Every time I see her she inspires me, she empowers me, she encourages me to live a healthy lifestyle, to support our veterans."

Earlier this month, Knowles posted a poem of sorts dedicated to Frank Ocean, who recently revealed his first love was a man; in it, she referred to Ocean as "fearless." (Read it here.)
