Suri Cruise Enrolled in Exclusive All-Girls Catholic School — 5 Things She Can Expect
According to E! News, the former Dawson’s Creek actress, 33, is going back to her Catholic roots and enrolling her six-year-old daughter in Manhattan’s prestigious Convent of the Sacred Heart Catholic School for the upcoming year — which will set her back a cool $38,000.
The all-girls private school is home to famous alumnae like Lady Gaga, Nicky Hilton and several Kennedys.
What kind of education can Suri expect to get at the private school?
1. She’ll have to wear a uniform.
This little fashionista will have to deal with wearing a standard uniform during the school day. The school has a strict dress code, but we’re sure Suri will find a way to stand out from her peers.
Below are two photos from the lower level classrooms and the various uniforms.
2. Suri will be fluent in several languages.
According to the school’s official website, “Sacred Heart introduces both French and Spanish in Kindergarten. In Grade 1 all students will choose one of the two languages to pursue all the way through to the Grade 12. Latin is offered beginning in Grade 7. In addition to Latin, French and Spanish, the Upper School language department offers Arabic, Greek and Mandarin.”
3. She’ll have a small group of girls in her grade level.
Classes at Sacred Heart are very small allowing for individual instruction. The student to teacher ratio is 7:1. Classes are scheduled to begin on September 6 and will mark Suri’s first in an open classroom format. She was previously home-schooled.
4. Suri will have plenty of extracurricular activities.
According to the school website, “Beginning in Jr. Kindergarten, students may choose from a wide variety of after-school educational enhancement activities that take place at school and at other locations in New York City. The after-school program offers more than 100 classes in sports, dance, art, drama, music and academic enrichment.”
Pop star Lady Gaga recalled her time in school, noting that at 11, she began attending a full day of acting classes on Saturdays.
“I remember the first time that I drank out of an imaginary coffee cup,” she told NY Magazine. “That’s the very first thing they teach you. I can feel the rain, too, when it’s not raining.”
5. Suri will have Mass every Thursday.
The oldest independent school for girls in New York City is strict about mass. Holmes’ daughter will have to learn the teachings of the church.
