Sylvester Stallone's Son Sage 'Depressed' Because He Was Estranged From Dad, Says Family Source (EXCLUSIVE)
"Sage was not allowed in his father's home and he admitted to other family members of his devastation that he’d seemingly been cut out of his father's life," a family friend revealed to Celebuzz.
"Sage idolized his father but they had become estranged in recent time. It crushed him."
Rocky star Stallone had his birthday on July 6.
The claims from the family insider contradict statements from Sage's attorney and longtime friend George Braunstein, who dismissed suggestions at the weekend that the filmaker, 36, was in an emotional state before his mysterious death.
"He wasn't depressed. He was thinking about getting married. He just had his whole life ahead of him," Braunstein told the Los Angeles Times.
"Sage was a really young, very sensitive and very talented kid. There has been no indication that there was anything wrong in his life."
"His compassion and thoughts are with Sage's mother, Sasha," Stallone's statement added, referring to the Rocky star's first wife Sasha Czack.
"Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man."
According to TMZ, Sage "lived like Howard Hughes" in a room '"littered with junk" - and his body could have laid undiscovered for at least three to four days before being found Friday in his Los Angeles home.
An autopsy was carried out on Sunday, but toxicology results will take about 10 weeks, officials said.
Some prescription pill bottles were taken from his apartment, but authorities have said little about the cause of the death. There was no sign of foul play or trauma, or a suicide note, said Ed Winter of the coroner's office.
Sage appeared in the 1990 film Rocky V as Rocky Balboa Jr, the son of his father's title character. The pair also appeared together in the 1996 movie Daylight.
