The girl-power '90s pop group — Geri "Ginger Spice" Halliwell, Emma "Baby Spice" Bunton, Melanie "Sporty Spice" Chisholm, Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown and Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham — will hit the stage for the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony.
The Girls — er, Women? — will join a star-studded lineup including George Michael, The Who, Take That and Jessie J, for the closing show on Sunday, Aug. 12.
The worldwide-televised event will mark the first time that all five members have performed together since 2008.
What hits might the Brit band belt out in their two-song time-slot?
According to media reports, the Spice Girls may perform their 1996 smash-hit single "Wannabe," which rose to No. 1 in more than 30 countries.
During a recent radio interview, Beckham talked about reuniting with her bandmates again."I love the other girls," the singer-turned-fashion-mogul gushed. "We have some fantastic fans. I don't know about a comeback tour but I loved being back with the girls."
"Who knows," she continued, "maybe some day we'll do something else with the Spice Girls. If they're up for something then I certainly am. I would love nothing more."to promote Viva Forever!, a new musical based on the band's chart-topping music.
All band members have had a hand in creating the new play, which will open at the Piccadilly Theatre in London on Nov. 27.
