‘Bachelor Pad’ Recap: Skinny Dipping, Super Fans and Kissing (VIDEO)
This time around, ABC also introduced six “super fans” into the competition, a decision that seemed like a fun idea — until, you know, two of them were voted out at the end of the episode.
But we’ll get to that later.
Spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched the premiere of Bachelor Pad.
The first hour of the show unfolded the same way seasons 1 and 2 kicked off: with a lot of awkward introductions between frenemies and, in the case of Jaclyn and Blakeley, just plain ol’ enemies.
“She makes me tense …” Jaclyn lamented about Blakeley, presuming she was the next person to arrive to the mansion. “She’s not a normal person. She talks in baby voices, okay? She’s, like, 82!” Ouch.
Also tense was the reunion of Kalon and Erica, especially after Erica admitted to host Chris Harrison that she had talked to the tabloids about Kalon.
“I think Kalon wants to be a little bit like American Psycho, and that’s scary,” she told cameras after the two said their awkward hello’s.
With that out of the way, it was time for the contestants to mingle with each other, and to meet the six super fans who hoped to take it all. (We say “six,” because two of the super fans — twins Brittany and Erica — counted as one.) This included a — let’s say “very happy” — Ed from Jilian’s season of The Bachelorette stripping down to his Birthday Suit and taking a dip in the pool.
Then it was time for the challenge portion of the episode, in which each contestant was asked to pair with one another and — wait for it — hang onto a floating heart for dear life.
The competition eventually came down to a test of strength between Super Fan Paige and Bachelorette cutie Reid and Super Fans David and Brittany, the latter of whom ultimately won. As part of their victory: David and Brittany (and her twin, Erica, of course!) won immunity, then got to enjoy a bit of skinny dipping in the water.
Because, well, why not?
The rest of the show contained your typical deliberation period, in which the Super Fans learned quickly that they were no match for the strength of the Bachelor and Bachelorette veterans.
Case in point: Fans Paige and SWAT (yes, SWAT), were sent packing, leaving the fate of the rest of the Super Fans in peril.
What did you think of last night’s premiere? Was it totally fun? Or a total bust? Sound off in the comments, below!
Green With Envy: Upon arrival, Harrison thanked Ed for arriving without the infamous green shorts he wore on his season of The Bachelorette. To which Ed said, “Oh, I brought ‘em.” Great.
Spoke Too Soon? When SWAT, a Super Fan, showed up to the mansion, he seemed more optimistic than anyone else in the house. “I’m gonna walk away with love and $250,000, and I’m stoked.” Oops.
Messy House: Speaking as the voice of the reason for the entire show, returning favorite Michael Stagliano summed up the cast’s meet-and-greet rather perfectly. “It’s just such a man here, it’s such a mess,” he said.
Let’s Kiss: Chris and Jamie got right down to business early into the show’s second hour, when they snuck away to a private room and, naturally, started making out. Their love-fest was quickly ruined when Jaclyn and Blakeley barged into the room.
