‘Watch’ Star Vince Vaughn ‘A Long Way Away’ From Worrying About His Daughter Dating

After famously not marrying his Break-Up co-star Jennifer Aniston, Vince Vaughn went and married Canadian real estate agent Kyla Weber, in 2010, and became the proud father of daughter Locklyn Kyla Vaughn later that year.

The domestic life hasn’t slowed him down too much, though, as he has two movies coming out next year — not to mention the new comedy The Watch, opening this Friday.

In it, Vaughn plays a suburban dad who panics at the thought of his teenage daughter dating. Luckily, as Vaugn explained to Celebuzz, he won’t have to worry about that problem in his own life anytime soon.

“My daughter, she’s just 19-20 months now, so I’m a long way away from that,” Vaughn revealed.

However, when pressed by his co-star, Jonah Hill, who asked Vaughn what he will do when a guy comes ringing the doorbell on prom night, Vaughn joked:

“It happened the other day. I had a toddler ringing the doorbell asking for her to come out. I said it’s a little inappropriate. You gotta let them make their own decisions. They gotta walk before they can fly.”

The Watch focuses on four middle-aged suburban guys who form a neighborhood watch after a security guard is murdered at the town’s local Costco. With no training, and no real idea what they’re doing, they stumble upon an Alien plan to take over Earth.

“[My character] is really doing the watch because he wants some guys to hang out with and just sort of laugh and kind of get away from those problems,” Vaughn explained. “I think that’s something that’s relatable for all of us. You love your family and you’re invested in it; but it is nice to take a break and get some perspective.”

Seeking our own perspective on life and family, Celebuzz probed the 42-year-old star of such films as Swingers, Dodgeball and Wedding Crashers to find out if he had any parenting tips for new dads like himself.

“I threw her in the pool,” he joked about his baby daughter. “She swam, so she’s fine.”

The Watch hits theaters nationwide on July 27.
