'Dancing With the Stars' Pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy Plays Coy About All-Star Season (EXCLUSIVE)
"I pride myself on doing my best with what I got," he told Celebuzz. "And if I am to win a season, winning all-stars would kind of be a big deal."
The 32-year-old Ukraine-bred dancer, who most recently competed with Melissa Gilbert on ABC's hit competition show, won't find out who his dancing partner is until July 27 when ABC makes an official announcement, but he promises it'll be a "fun" and "exciting" season.
"I can't wait to see who I’m going to get. I’m going to have a great time... This is going to be the first time we don’t start from scratch but pick it up where you left off."
What else can fans expect this upcoming season?
"We have some new pros, [as] some old pros won't be coming back," he coyly revealed.
"The advantage is going to be with the couple that was on a recent season... If you're going to be paired with someone coming back from Season 2, he or she is probably going to have a bit of a harder time getting back into it than someone who was on the last season."
Up next, Chmerkovskiy is putting on his dancing shoes for a guest role on TV Land's The Exes -- airing Wednesday July 25. He plays Don, a ballroom companion of Stuart's (David Alan Basche) ex-wife.
Chmerkovskiy takes Holly, played by Kristen Johnston, for a twirl in the episode, called "Shall We Dance."
Speaking about his role, he revealed: "I had a blast and I think I caught a buzz, and I kind of want to crossover and do acting."
"I don’t only want to be looked at as a dancer," he said. "I want to develop that craft. I want to see what it has to offer and see if I can do it."
Catch him on The Exes Wednesday, July 25 on TV Land at 10:30PM ET/PT.
