Ten things to know about Friday's kick-off event.
Georgio Armani has spoken: “This is going to be the most fashionable Olympic Games ever.”

With an estimated 1.5 billion people tuning in, the 2012 Summer Games kicked off Friday night in London, England with the much-anticipated opening ceremonies.

As they marched into London’s Olympic stadium, the thousands of national delegates were decked out in new designs.

So what will the national teams be sporting?

From Ralph Lauren, Salvatore Ferragamo, to Stella McCartney, to Giorgio Armani, many internationally renowned fashion houses are making their mark on this year’s games by clothing the competitors.

And this is not the first time that fashion powerhouses have had a hand in the Olympic styles. The worldwide competition has brought together many style winning duos in the past, such as Vera Wang creating a costume for American figure skater Nancy Kerrigan in the 1994 winter games.

It was the host country that sparked the style competition. A year ago, Britain announced  Stella McCartney would create the official range of garments for Team GB athlete competing in 46 sports, from gymnastic to BMX.

It seems that move piqued the interest of other major fashion players, who flocked to countries in a big to clothe their team and put their names on elements their Olympic kit.

But in the end, of course, teams are not looking for fashion acclaim — they are gunning for the gold.

Ahead of opening ceremonies, Celebuzz is giving you a sneak peek at what the athletes will be wearing Friday night and in competition. So, let the Games begin!

Which team do you think will be best dressed? Sound off in comments.
