MTV VMAs 2012 ‘Best New Artist’: One Direction vs. The Wanted (POLL)

Boy bands are making a comeback and ready to go head-to-head at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.. One Direction and The Wanted will be competing against one another in the “Best New Artist” category.

One Direction has been nominated for their catchy tune “What Makes You Beautiful” while The Wanted is up for their club hit “Glad You Came”.

The guys are also up against Carly Rae Jepsen (“Call Me Maybe”) and Frank Ocean (“Swim Good”), but of the two boy bands, who do you think will win it all? Vote in the poll!

On Tuesday, MTV released the full list of nominees for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Leading the way: 24-year-old pop sensation Rihanna, who nabbed five nominations, including two in the category of Video of the Year.

Also picking up five nominations was Rihanna’s ‘Take Care’ cohort Drake, who will duke it out in the categories of Video of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Male Video, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography.

Close behind was Katy Perry, who racked up an impressive four nominations, including ones for Video of the Year (‘Wide Awake’) and Best Female Video (‘Part of Me’).

Meanwhile, MTV confirmed Tuesday that both Alicia Keys and One Direction will perform when the much-anticipated telecast airs live Sept. 6 at 8PM ET/PT.
