‘American Idol’ Champ Phillip Phillips’ Debuts Video for Olympics Theme Song ‘Home’ (VIDEO)

American Idol winner Phillip Phillips is back on top.

Not only has his chart-topping coronation single, “Home,” hit certified gold sales, but the song has shot back up to No. 1 on the iTunes charts thanks to prime placement in NBC’s Olympics coverage; it serves as the theme song for the U.S. women’s gymnastics team.

Now, as he rides high on such success, Phillips has debuted his ‘Home’ music video, above.

In the sepia-toned clip, Phillips and his right-hand man — his guitar — give fans a glimpse of his life on the road: playing to packed venues, penning new lyrics between gigs, jamming with pals on the tour bus, grabbing grub at unglamorous roadside restaurants and relishing time with his longtime, real-life girlfriend Hannah Blackwell.

The video, filmed over three days while on the road with this summer’s Idols Live Tour, was helmed by UK-born Joseph Toman. And the footage stays true to Phillips’ down-to-earth persona and style.

“It’s like a documentary-type thing,” the Leesburg, Georgia, native told Yahoo. “I didn’t do any acting, no makeup, nothing with the hair, and I wore my own clothes.”

“When I met Phillip, we vibed about making something that was genuine,” Toman told The Hollywood Reporter. “This was really the main inspiration for the piece: make something that felt real and show people who Phillip really is. After being in such a mainstream spotlight for so many months, this felt important.”

Phillips, who underwent intensive kidney surgery in June, is currently recording his debut album, due out this fall.
