Katy Perry and John Mayer's Date Night: Why the Duo Was Actually Meeting in Hollywood (EXCLUSIVE)
Katy Perry and John Mayer may be making sweet music together…but it’s not a love song.
The duo was spotted coming out of the paparazzi-swarmed Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on Wednesday, Aug. 1, sparking rumors the Grammy Award-winning singers are now an A-list item.
But a source tells Celebuzz their meeting was a different kind of rendezvous.
What kind of date was it?
“It wasn’t a date. They met up about a potential music collaboration,” says the source.
The photos outside the famed hotel showed Perry smiling at the “Perfectly Lonely” singer from the passenger seat as he flashes a grin and drives off.
But the “Wide Awake” singer still moved on pretty quickly since ending her 14-month marriage with a PDA-packed summer alongside another Brit, Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd, 28, which has since cooled off.
Perry already has another collaboration in the works with R&B princess and BFF Rihanna, the "We Found Love" singer announced in March.
“Katie is toying with the idea of working with John,” says the source.
“But whether or not they work together remains to be seen.”
