President Obama Says Anne Hathaway Was 'The Best Thing' in 'The Dark Knight Rises'
Anne Hathaway received the biggest review of her movie career on Monday, when President Barack Obama said her performance as Catwoman was the best part about The Dark Knight Rises.
"She’s spectacular," Obama said (via Deadline) while attending a campaign fundraiser at the Westport, Conn., home of film mogul Harvey Weinstein. "I got a chance to see Batman, and she was the best thing in it. That’s just my personal opinion."
Hathaway herself was at the fundraiser, which also included such A-list guests as Anna Wintour and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. No word on her response to Obama's glowing review.
Later this year, Hathaway -- who is engaged to her long-term boyfriend, Adam Shulman -- will star in the Tom Hooper-directed musical Les Miserables, opposite Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried and others.
As part of the role, Hathaway, 29, will sing her own rendition of the famous song "I Dreamed a Dream." (Watch the trailer here.)
Since its July 20 release, The Dark Knight Rises has grossed an impressive $358.6 million, domestically.
