President Obama Says Anne Hathaway Was ‘The Best Thing’ in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’
“She’s spectacular,” Obama said (via Deadline) while attending a campaign fundraiser at the Westport, Conn., home of film mogul Harvey Weinstein. “I got a chance to see Batman, and she was the best thing in it. That’s just my personal opinion.”
Hathaway herself was at the fundraiser, which also included such A-list guests as Anna Wintour and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. No word on her response to Obama’s glowing review.
Later this year, Hathaway — who is engaged to her long-term boyfriend, Adam Shulman — will star in the Tom Hooper-directed musical Les Miserables, opposite Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried and others.
As part of the role, Hathaway, 29, will sing her own rendition of the famous song “I Dreamed a Dream.” (Watch the trailer here.)
Since its July 20 release, The Dark Knight Rises has grossed an impressive $358.6 million, domestically.
