'Dallas' Season Finale Recap: It's a Whole New Ballgame
Note: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched Wednesday’s episode, “Revelations.”
The episode opened with the last bit of life draining out of Tommy (Callard Harris), following his struggle with a gun-wielding Rebecca (Julie Gonzalo) in the previous installment. A panicked Rebecca started to clean up, before making a cryptic phone call for help. A mob-style cleaning crew showed up to take care of things — including wrapping up Tommy’s body like the dead fish he was. Who is helping Rebecca out of her sticky situation?
The Ewing clan was at the hospital awaiting word on Bobby (Patrick Duffy). Jock (Jim Davis) and Miss Ellie’s (Barbara Bel Geddes) youngest made it through surgery, but had to be put in a medically-induced coma. Ann (Brenda Strong) and the others had to wait until Bobby woke up to see if he would have any permanent brain damage. JR (Larry Hagman) defied doctor’s orders to go into Bobby’s room and demanded his brother to keep fighting, both for life and against JR.
Rebecca rushed to Christopher's (Jesse Metcalfe) side when she learned about Bobby's health crisis -- only her unstable emotions weren’t because of Bobby’s medical crisis. Chris noticed the huge shiner his wife was sporting and demanded to know who had hurt her.
Rebecca attempted to lie, saying she’d walked into a cabinet, but after being pressed by her estranged husband, she admitted Tommy had knocked her around. When Christopher asked where her “brother” was, Rebecca knowingly replied Tommy wouldn’t be a problem anymore. Not satisfied with Rebecca’s assurances, Chris asked John Ross (Josh Henderson) to get Bum (Kevin Page), his shady P.I., on the case. When Rebecca noticed Chris was wearing his wedding ring, she knew she had to get hers’ back!
Rebecca headed over to Tommy’s motel room in search of the rings she’d given him to pawn. Instead she found several pictures of the two of them looking not-so-sibling-like. Rebecca called her secret contact to ask where Tommy’s body had been stashed, then headed to an empty aircraft hangar. After finding a pawn ticket on Tommy’s person, she paid the pawn broker a visit. Unfortunately for Mrs. Ewing, the ice had already been moved! How will Rebecca get out of this jam?
John Ross surprised Elena (Jordana Brewster) and Christopher by leasing the old Ewing Oil offices — which had been gutted — to be the new headquarters for Ewing Energies. As the trio was celebrating their new beginning, Christopher was stunned to learn John Ross and Elena were engaged to be married.
Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) told Ann she planned to hold a press conference announcing the end of her campaign for governor. JR’s ex felt she had no other choice if she was going to stop Harris (Mitch Pileggi) from using her PAC to launder dirty money.
Ann insisted Sue Ellen not give up. Sue Ellen countered that Texas deserved better than her. The third Mrs. Bobby Ewing decided to take matters into her own hands by getting Harris on tape admitting to extorting Sue Ellen. Before leaving, Ann promised her former husband the next time he asked her for a hug he’d be dealing with the business end of her shotgun!
The Ewing cousins played ball and reminisced about their childhood on Southfork. The happy time was cut short when JR arrived, informing John Ross his Uncle Bobby wanted them both in jail!
John Ross told Bobby that JR was the one who stole Southfork from him, so he shouldn’t have to go down for conspiring with Faux Marta/Veronica (Leonor Varela). Just as John Ross was agreeing to admit to what he did — as long as Elena never found out — the woman both he and Chris have loved since childhood walked up and overheard everything! Elena refused to listen to John Ross’ explanations. She was done with one Ewing cousin, but what about the other one?
Vincente (Carlos Benard) held a meeting with Frank (Faran Tahir) , Cliff Barnes’ (Ken Kercheval) trusty henchman. The Venezuelan wanted to finalize selling his stakes in Christopher’s methane extraction project, not to mention Southfork, to Cliff. Before Vincente could have so much as one fantasy about how he’d spend Barnes’ money, the FBI pounced!
Bobby had the pleasure of telling Vincente he was going down not only for the con to steal Southfork, but also Veronica’s murder. He then informed his big brother he’d kept the video evidence of JR conspiring with Veronica. When Bobby promised to use it if JR ever crossed him again, the eldest Ewing offspring said he wouldn’t have it any other way!
Bum and Chris showed up at Tommy’s hotel room, only to find it empty. When the phone rang, Christopher answered it and had a brief conversation with Rebecca -- no, not his wife, Tommy’s real sister!
Chris didn’t waste any time finding Rebecca and confronting her on her latest in a long line of lies. Rebecca admitted to lying, but told Christopher she wasn’t the only one in their marriage who had been dishonest. Rebecca hissed that she never had a chance with Christopher, because he was still in love with Elena. Chris warned her deceitful bride that he planned to find out exactly who she was and take their babies away from her! Chris couldn’t wait to get to Elena. He told the maid’s daughter he’d never stopped loving her and presented her with her old engagement ring!
A reeling John Ross vowed to JR that he would take Ewing Energies away from Chris and Elena and cut his daddy in. The catch was JR had to show his son every dirty trick in his playbook or else John Ross would stick him back in a rest home!
The episode ended when Rebecca met Frank at a private airstrip. It was there that viewers learned that Rebecca is really Pamela Rebecca Barnes, who's father was none other than the Ewing’s ancient rival, Cliff Barnes!
OMG!: Rebecca deciding to stick with her father's plan to take Christopher and the Ewings down. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!
Thank you, TV gods: Vincente finally going to jail for rubbing out Veronica.
Awk-ward: Elena's mom giving John Ross her engagement ring back.
Hotness: Christopher and Elena making love after reuniting. The childhood sweethearts made up for lost times and then some!
Fab-u-lous: The final scenes of the Ewings reflecting and plotting their next move with the montage set to Johnny Cash's "God's Gonna Cut You Down."
Can. Not. Wait: Anxious for season 2 of John Ross' revenge against Christopher and Elena. I'm curious to see if John Ross and Rebecca will team up to take the lovebirds down.
Celebuzz Meter (1-10): 10.
