Evelyn Lozada’s Stepdad to Chad Ochocinco: ‘Once I Speak With Him, It’s Not Going to Be Pretty’ (EXCLUSIVE)

“It doesn’t surprise me [that she filed for divorce.]," he tells us. "She’s old enough to make her own decisions and I’m 100 percent behind her.”
The Basketball Wives star was allegedly head-butted by her husband during a domestic violence incident which led to his arrest over the weekend after Lozada allegedly questioned him about a receipt for condoms that she found. Since then, the couple's reality show Eve & Ocho has been canceled and Johnson, a former Dancing with the Stars contestant, was fired from the Miami Dolphins.

In the divorce documents Lozada reportedly cited their marriage is “irretrievably broken.”
Her stepfather even warned his son-in-law on the day of their wedding never to lay a hand on her: “I told him, 'You do not marry a punching bag. We’re giving you our baby. Treat her like a queen and a lady. If you’re going to lift a hand, walk away. Nobody is perfect. If she’s arguing, walk away, then come back and work it out.' ”

But Ortega never saw any relationship red flags.
“I met him the day of the wedding and she never said anything about him being violent,” he said. “She said, ‘I’m happy and I’m in love.’ But sometimes you don’t see everything.”
It’s been a bad week so far for Lozada, whose brother-in-law also passed away after a long battle with cancer. And according to Ortega, she will be in New York City tonight to be with her family for the funeral services on Thursday or Friday.

“The situation is not great. We just lost our son-in-law and he gave (Evelyn) away at her wedding,” Ortega said. “There’s chaos in the whole family.”
The troubled pair have four children between them from other relationships -- Jicyra, Chad Johnson II, Chade, and Cha'iel.
